The Olympic Games consists of 26 different sports competing over 17 days in 34 venues. The Paralympic Games features 20 sports taking place over 11 days of competition in 21 venues. The Wrestling Venue is at the ExCeL, located in east London’s Royal Victoria Docks, hosting seven Olympic sports [Boxing, Fencing, Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Weightlifting and Wrestling] and five Paralympic sports [Boccia, Judo, Powerlifting, Table Tennis and Wheelchair Fencing] in five arenas. Up to 40,000 seats will be available to watch the action.
The Docklands Light Rail network provides easy access to the venue from both the Olympic Park and central London from Custom House and Prince Regent stations. There are also excellent road links.
Getting ready There is no construction needed to create ExCeL’s four arenas. Test events will be held in the year before London 2012 to ensure the venue will be ready to stage the Games and after the Games ExCeL London will revert to its role as one of Europe’s largest and most versatile exhibition spaces.
